There’s one in every family

There’s one in every family.

Maybe it’s your sister who quit medical school to clown college. Or your aunt who eloped and move to France. Maybe it’s your cousin who’s currently serving three to five years in minimum security. It might even be you. As the author Heinrich Böll put it, “A family without a black sheep is not a typical family.”

The Norfolk Community Theatre invites you to celebrate being different with us. For our upcoming season, we’re excited to bring Steel Magnolias, Peter and the Starcatcher, and Tribes to the stage. Tribes is the story of a young man who returns to his family after years away but cannot find a way to fit back in, leading him to seek a tribe of his own. Peter and the Starcatcher, the musical prequel to Peter Pan, gives us the story of a boy who finds a whole other world in which he can fit in. Steel Magnolias features a cast of characters who all prove to be Black Sheep in their own way.

Like the characters in these stories, we hope to inspire to be bold. Be outspoken. Stand your ground. Be the black sheep. And when the world pushes you away, find refuge with us.
